What is your Africa book about?

Tentatively titled White Shadow, it is based on the true life story of Janet Mondlane, the American wife of Eduardo Mondlane, first president of FRELIMO, and leader of the Mozambican war for independence from Portugal.

What else have you written?

Languishing in this computer’s archives are a picture book, Muffin Miracle and a middle grade novel, Frisbee Dreams. No longer in print are a series of stories for pre-schoolers, Wiggly Stories, that incorpo-rate movement into the story-line.

Future projects?

Read a chapter of my latest story called White Shadow. Each week will feature a new chapter.

I hope to write the story of a group of more than 50 artists who operate an artisans co-operative in Fort Collins, CO. It has been part of the community for nearly forty years.

Also on the back burner is a ghost-writing project for a local lawyer who has a chilling tale to tell.

What else do you like to do?

There's nothing better than hanging out with grandkids. Taking a 13-year-old granddaughter across Iowa on a bike was a highlight. I also loved it when my oldest grandson whizzed past me in a four-mile running race. He'd been trying hard to beat me for a few years! I get a real kick out of digging in the dirt, planting a few seeds, and seeing what emerges. I am an extremely unscientific gardener. I like to cook but I seem to have a hard time following a recipe exactly.

Pilates and yoga are also important to me.
